Coach Tim Brookshear: National Master and The Ironman of GA Chess

 

oAowv3tuF0VHBaKX8BwHMeet Coach Tim Brookshear, the Ironman of Georgia chess. Tim began playing tournament chess in 1971. He captained three straight State Championship teams at Tucker High School from 1973-1975. In 1973, he was Southern High School Individual Champion. Tim earned his National Master title at The US Open in Jacksonville, Florida, in the summer of 1990. In 1995, he was Georgia State Champion. Since 2001, he has taught chess with Championship Chess across the metro Atlanta area. As a coach, he has worked with State Champion teams at Oak Grove and Kittredge Elementary, Shamrock Middle and Lakeside High.

 

Tim continues to add new students, classes and clubs to his coaching list. He manages the longest-running free evening chess club in Georgia. The first and third Tuesday of every month, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm, you’ll find Tim and other Championship Chess coaches in the Food Court at North DeKalb Mall (Decatur). The club is open to all ages and chess levels and Tim always has a great game or new insight to share. Come and experience the fun of playing and learning with a top coach.
